The list, and the game
Every other page of this or that questions hands you four hundred lines and leaves the
rest to you — you scroll, you read them out, you lose your place, somebody asks you to go
back two. This page has the same list, sorted properly, and a game above it that deals
the questions one at a time. Press start and you are playing in one tap; scroll past it
if you would rather just read.

How to play This or That
- Press start. Ten questions is the standard round; set it to 20 or 30 for a longer session.
- Tap a side. No explaining, no hedging, no "it depends" — that is the whole rule.
-
For a group, switch to pass-and-play in Options, add up to ten names and hand one phone
round the table.
-
At the end you get the split on every question, the two players who agreed most, and
the question that divided the room hardest.
What makes a good this or that question
An even split and no explanation required. "Coffee or tea" is a good question because
almost everybody has an answer and a room divides down the middle. "Pineapple on pizza"
is a good question because it does not. What does not work is the lopsided one, where
nine people in ten pick the same side and there is nothing left to argue about — most of
the questions below have been cut or rewritten on exactly that test.

Common questions
What is the This or That game?
One player reads out two options and everyone picks a side, immediately, without explaining themselves. That is the whole game. It works because the questions are about preferences people already hold, so nobody has to invent an answer or perform for the room. A round is usually ten questions and takes about ninety seconds.
How many this or that questions are there on this page?
287, grouped into 11 categories: classic, food, travel, work, kids, couples, deep, funny, autumn, halloween, christmas. Every one of them is also in the game at the top of the page, so you can read the list or just press start and have them dealt to you one at a time.
What are good this or that questions?
The good ones are fast, concrete and evenly split. "Coffee or tea" works because almost everyone has an answer and the room divides roughly down the middle. "Window or aisle", "text or call", "beach or mountains" all work for the same reason. The ones that fail are the lopsided ones, where ninety per cent of a room picks the same side and there is nothing to argue about.
Can I play this or that online with a group?
Yes. Solo, or pass-and-play with up to ten people on one phone — put everyone’s name in and hand the device round. At the end you get how the group split on each question, which two people agreed most, and which question caused the most trouble. On a video call, share your screen and have everyone answer in the chat.
Is it free?
Free, with no account and no download. Nothing anyone answers leaves their device.
