How the daily word association puzzle works

  1. You get one prompt word, the same one for everybody, every day.
  2. Type any word you associate with it. Plurals and common synonyms count.
  3. Ten associations are hidden. Find them all for a perfect 100.
  4. Wrong guesses cost 2 points; a hint costs 6. Share your grid when you finish.

What is the word association game?
The word association game is a word game where one word is the prompt and players name the words they associate with it. In the daily puzzle here you try to find the ten most commonly associated words. In party mode a group takes turns saying an associated word until someone hesitates or repeats.
Can I play the word association game online for free?
Yes. Every mode on this site is free, runs in the browser, needs no download and no account, and works on phones as well as laptops.
How do you play word association with friends?
Pass one phone around. A seed word appears, a timer starts, and each player in turn says a word they associate with the previous word. Hesitate, repeat a word, or get vetoed by the group and you are out. Last player standing wins.
How many players do you need for word association?
The daily puzzle is single player. Party mode works with 2 to 12 players and takes about five minutes per round.
